Pie Crust in a Minute!

Apr 25, 2016 | 0 comments

It’s easy to make pie crust in a minute…all you need is a food processor, some flour, butter, salt and ice water. No need to buy a pie crust ever again! This recipe freezes well also. Use this recipe when making the perfect chicken pot pie recipe, or add 2 tsp of sugar to sweeten the dough for a dessert recipe. This makes 2 crusts for a 9″ or 10″ pie pan.

Ingredients:
2 2/3 cups of flour
1 cup (2 sticks) of very cold butter, cut into 1″ cubes
1 tsp salt (2 tsp if using unsalted butter)
1/2 cup ice water

Put the flour, salt and butter in the bowl of the food processor. Using the standard metal blade, run the processor until the butter is completely integrated and the mixture resembles a coarse meal. With the food processor running, remove the tube from the lid and very slowly pour in the ice water (minus the ice cubes, of course!). Run until the dough starts to form a ball, then stop the processor. Turn out the dough onto a clean surface, divide in half, and form each into a ball or disk. Wrap tightly in saran wrap, and refrigerate until ready to use.

Bon appétit!
