A whole new kind of ketchup…

Jul 25, 2010 | 0 comments

If you like ketchup, you’re going to love this…I was reading the Food Network magazine and saw a small write-up on gourmet ketchups (a true alternative to the seeming one and only household brand). The one that struck me was Sir Kensington’s Gourmet Scooping Ketchup.  The name is fun.  The ingredients are very wholesome.  I love their web site.

And after trying it, I can definitely say it’s delicious!!!

They have both a Classic and a Spiced version, and naturally (remember we like everything spicy!), I got the Spiced.  I then crafted a burger recipe with which to feature the ketchup.  One of my guests said it was one of the best burgers he’s every had, and the ketchup was no small contributor!  Here is the recipe:

1.5 lb ground chuck
3 Tbsp finely chopped chipotle chiles in adobo sauce
3 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
fresh ground pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients, and form into 4 burger patties.  Grill over high heat until cooked to your liking, and top for the last minute with a slice of pepper jack cheese.  Serve on toasted egg buns with butter lettuce leaves, heirloom tomato slices, red onion and plenty of Sir Kensington’s Gourmet Scooping Ketchup (spiced).  Mouthwateringly delicious!

Thanks to Sir Kensington, we have a better ketchup!

Bon appetit!
